The Good, the Bad and the New Album

Recently, a new album from one of my favourite bands came out.

This new album, named Death of a Bachelor by Panic! at the Disco, was not was I was expecting from this band. There was a variety of genres for all of the different songs. These songs were different from the other albums they have released.

All of the songs were wrote by the lead singer of the band, Brendon Urie. Currently, he is the only full time member of the band as the other members left the creative process and became just touring members. However, they recorded the background music for the songs on the album.

The main themes within this album are celebration but also reflection, these differ from the other albums that they have made, which make it more of an interesting album for this band as it is completely different to other things they have produced.

I think Brendon Urie did well, considering he wrote all of the songs by himself. He wrote eleven different songs that had a different feel to them. He described them as a “mix between Sinatra and Queen”. I agree with some of what he is saying as two of the songs from the album, Impossible Year and Death of a Bachelor, sound like Sinatra songs, however personally, I think that no songs from the albums have a Queen feel to them.

The rest of the songs are upbeat and make you want to dance and sing along. This is good for an album as it makes it more interesting for other people that do not normally like that genre of music. It makes it more open to a wide range of people meaning it will be quite popular and at least one song from the album will suit the musical taste.

The album cover is also a good way to interest people. The way it is laid out helps to attract more people to it, as it is interesting and fun. It also looks cool because of the drawings on top of the original picture.

Another reason it is quite popular at the moment is because it is completely different from all their other albums. They have done a new take on it so it attracts more people to the album.

My favourite song of the album is Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time. It is upbeat and has a cool tune to it. The lyrics fit well with the tune of the song and because it is upbeat, it’s a song you would want to dance and sing to. The bass tune that was used in the song was originally from ‘Rock Lobster’ by the B-52s. It is interesting that they included that as it incorporates stuff from the past. This is quite important as it helps bring the importance of the past back and helps the newer generation learn the songs of the past. It also gives them a new twist which helps engage the newer audience more.

So what do you think about the new album? Is it better than the other ones that they have produced and how do you feel about them incorporating old songs within their songs from Death of a Bachelor?
